Actually , correct me if i am wrong, but i think it is illegal in india under sec 497 of the IPC. Yes, males who indulge in adultery can be imprisoned or fined, however women cannot be punished, unless they indulge in "unnatural" practices such as oral or anal ( yes, i also didnt believe at first). The misogynistic part comes here, if a wife finds her husband is having an affair, no punishment , no law, nothing. Incredible India indeed. Now, i dont know how courts interpret it nowadays ( could not find recent references) or even if such cases are even registered, but this is the law of the land. Infact, cant believe it, i was going through it again , according to the law, it is okay ( not a case ) if the adultery is committed with the husband's consent. Most sickening law. Anyway, i dont know if the law has been amended or anything , ( like i said, no recent references) maybe the moderators or someone with legal know how can provide some references .
